At Xbox Madden 10, Fight to the Fumble, as well as your Rival’s Bankroll

You may need a crash course in football video game history, if hearing about all the innovations and improvements that Xbox Madden 10 offers still hasn't moved you. Yeah, it could be a bit cruel to constantly bag on older games as a means to elevate today's football video games. But it helps to see how much progress has been made in football video games, by taking a glance at the earliest video games and comparing them to Xbox Madden 10. It was inevitable, given the popularity of handheld football games in the B.C. (before consoles) era, that gamers would want a video football game to satisfy their needs. But the catch was, the power of the early video game consoles didn't exactly equal the imaginations and desires of those early hardcore gamers, so everyone had to settle for less. If you've ever seen old ads for this one, the creators truly believed that it had "all the excitement" of the real deal.

The characters on the gridiron are more suited to a sci-fi shooter than a football video game. Just needed to get that one off my chest. The photo may be underwhelming, but the game itself is even more so. From a technological standpoint, things were so basic, that multiple players moving at once meant that the only thing extreme about this game was the flickering of the players. Sound effects didn't fare much better, with the "spectators" sounding more like a car with a busted muffler. Another disappointment - the screen didn't (or just couldn't) scroll. In a short matter of time, the competitors entered the video game console field, and brought out their take on a more realistic football video game. They definitely took the ball and ran with this one, giving gamers better gameplay, visuals, and sound. However, it was still a bit primitive.

No doubt, it was a real exciting time for hardcore gamers, but there was still a ways to go before football video games would dominate the industry. Several years would pass before that came to pass. The next level in football video games had been reached, and still we're seeing a following for this one. Over the years, this was the yardstick by which all football video games were measured. Why this went supernova isn't hard to figure out - with actual offensive and defensive strategies, they brought in a new level of realism. With the improvements in both the sound and the graphics, gamers saw this as the first and last word in video football games. It's one of the few "old school" games that can still excite today's crop of hardcore gamers. That being said, as much as everyone digs that one, Xbox Madden 10 is in an entirely different league.

With the great strides in gaming, football video games have reached a level worthy of the fans. Guess it's a waste of time to do too much putting down of the other, less sophisticated football video games. No need to keep harping on it. You have to start somewhere, and those other games did - and Xbox Madden 10 would have never been possible if it weren't for those older football video games. Hardcore gamers have every reason to be fired up - Xbox Madden 10 really is the winning touchdown. The reviewers have spoken, and they're as stoked as the gamers, which is always a cause for celebration. Xbox Madden 10 reviews tend to feature statements such as "realistic and enjoyable." EA Sports didn't even come close to fumbling the ball with Xbox Madden 10, that's for sure.

Don't let the naysayers shape your opinion - Xbox Madden 10 is a game for the ages. Not to put down any other Xbox sports video games, which have certainly earned their solid rep, but Xbox Madden 10 is just the best of the best. It's the favorite of hardcore gamers, and with good cause. More than just a great game, it's a chance to display your video game excellence, when you clash for cash. Now, Xbox Madden 10 fanatics can throw down the gauntlet and play video games for money. After you've really given yourself a crash course and learned all the rules, you'll score touchdown after touchdown - and make off with your rival's bankroll as well.
